Baseball Game Preview: Columbus Blue Devils vs. St. Anne-Pacelli Vikings

The Columbus Blue Devils will take on the St. Anne-Pacelli Vikings at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Columbus will be strutting in after a victory while St. Anne-Pacelli will be coming in after a loss.

Columbus will bounce into Wednesday's game after beating Harris County, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Columbus skirted past Harris County 6-4. The Blue Devils' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Columbus' win was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was William Randall, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI. That RBI was Randall's first of the season.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for St. Anne-Pacelli's offense. They fell just short of Lakeside School by a score of 2-0 on Thursday. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Vikings' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Having lost for the first time this season, St. Anne-Pacelli fell to 2-1. As for Columbus, their victory bumped their record up to 2-4.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Columbus has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like St. Anne-Pacelli struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9 strikeouts.
