Dixon had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 13-run drubbing they dealt Lutheran on Thursday. The Dukes And Duchesses were the clear victors by a 21-8 margin over the Crusaders. The Dukes And Duchesses might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.

Nolan Valk made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up five earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.

In other batting news, Jagger Kemp was a standout: he got on base in five of his six plate appearances with five RBI, three runs, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Eli Kirchhoff, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

The win was the third in a row for Dixon, bringing their record up to 12-5. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Lutheran, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season.

Dixon will take on Tolono Unity at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Lutheran, they will challenge Genoa-Kingston at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
