Basketball Game Preview: Clairemont Chieftains vs. Canyon Hills Rattlers

Clairemont hasn't had much luck against Canyon Hills recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Clairemont Chieftains will host the Canyon Hills Rattlers at 6:00 p.m.

Clairemont is headed into Friday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 12th straight game on Friday. They received a blow as they fell 28-12 to Coronado. While losing is never fun, the Chieftains can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1329th, while the Islanders are ranked 552nd).

Meanwhile, Canyon Hills came tearing into Tuesday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 29-20 victory over the Pointers.

Clairemont's defeat dropped their record down to 2-17. As for Canyon Hills, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a massive bump to their 13-8 record this season.

Clairemont took a serious blow against Canyon Hills when the teams last played on January 10th, falling 48-6. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Clairemont was down 27-4.
