Football Game Preview: Economedes Jaguars vs. La Joya Coyotes

The Economedes Jaguars will head out on the road to square off against the La Joya Coyotes at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Economedes will come into the game with an undefeated record on the line.

Economedes will bounce into Thursday's contest after beating Edinburg, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. The Jaguars came out on top against the Bobcats by a score of 27-14 on Friday. Surprisingly, this marked the Jaguars' fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Johan Nunez was his usual excellent self, rushing for 102 yards and three TDs on only 14 carries. That's the most rushing touchdowns he has posted since back in October of 2024.

Meanwhile, after only nine points in their last matchup, La Joya made sure to put some points up on the board against Edinburg North on Thursday. The Coyotes took down the Cougars 48-34. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Coyotes' offense, which had struggled in the games prior.

Economedes' win bumped their record up to 8-0. As for La Joya, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.

Economedes strolled past La Joya when the teams last played back in October of 2024 by a score of 45-29. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Jaguars since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
