Basketball Recap: California Grizzlies vs. Carondelet Cougars
After a string of six wins, the California Grizzlies's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. The contest between them and Carondelet wasn't particularly close, with California falling 47-31. California lost against the Cougars in their previous head to head back in February of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 88-34 score last time.
California's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kaylee Lawson, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Sofie Addiego, who scored seven points.
California's defeat dropped their record down to 21-4. As for Carondelet, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 22-3 record this season.
California does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Carondelet won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Falcons at 2:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Christian Brothers will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 107th, while the Cougars are ranked 17th).
