Softball Recap: Piedmont Academy Sets Scoring Season-High Against First Presbyterian Day

Piedmont Academy extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to five on Saturday, dropping them down to 0-4. They took a 10-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the First Presbyterian Day Vikings. On the bright side, the seven- run performance marked the Cougars' highest-scoring game to date.

Naomi Mask was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. She also scored a run, marking her first of the season. Sarah Ellen Stroud was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base.

As for First Presbyterian Day, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1. The high-scoring effort was just what they needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

On First Presbyterian Day's side, Gracyn Fuller and Addison Arnold did most of the damage at the plate: Fuller went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Arnold went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Coming up, Piedmont Academy will take on Athens Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for First Presbyterian Day, they will venture away from home to take on Jasper County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
