Football Game Preview: South Barber Chieftains vs. Rolla Pirates + How To Watch

The South Barber Chieftains are taking a road trip to square off against the Rolla Pirates on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (South Barber has six straight victories, Rolla has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Friday, South Barber humbled Pawnee Heights with a 58-12 victory. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 32-12.

It was another big night for Austin Swonger, who threw for 308 yards and six TDs while completing 75% of his passes, and also rushed for 119 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only seven carries. He also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, forcing one fumble, making seven total tackles (1.0 for loss), and defending one pass. South Barber's leading receiver Garen Cantrell was Swonger's top target yet again, picking up 122 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: South Barber was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 210 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Meanwhile, Rolla fell victim to Moscow and their airtight defense on Friday. They were dealt a 50-0 defeat at the hands of the Wildcats.

Rolla's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for South Barber, their win bumped their record up to 6-1.

Everything came up roses for South Barber against Rolla when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 70-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Chieftains since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
