Football Recap: Sinton Starts off Right with Win over Jones

Sinton gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They took down the Jones Trojans 37-21. The Pirates have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Trojans, too.

Mykha Green was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 233 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 12.3 yards per carry. Those 233 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Sean Hughes also helped out with an impressive 111 receiving yards.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Sinton proved: they limited Jones to a paltry zero yards per carry. The team can thank Jonathan Rivas for the heroic effort on defense: he. Sinton didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 8.4.

Sinton's defense didn't let Tyler Lang., get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for four sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece. Rivas was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making 11 total tackles.

Coming up, Sinton will head out on the road to take on Calhoun at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Jones, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Orange Grove at 7:00 p.m.
