Soccer Game Preview: Sheldon vs. West Park

The Sheldon Huskies will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against the West Park Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Sheldon's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for seven straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Things were looking good for Sheldon after they put the first points on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Laguna Creek by a score of 2-1. While losing is never fun, the Huskies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 703rd, while the Cardinals are ranked 281st).

Sheldon's goal came courtesy of Ahliana Tran, who's now up to two this season.

Meanwhile, West Park's and Vanden's game on Saturday was close at halftime, but West Park turned on the heat in the second half with two goals. West Park blew past Vanden 3-0. The win was familiar territory for the Panthers who have now won three matchups in a row.

Sheldon's loss dropped their record down to 1-5-1. As for West Park, their victory bumped their record up to 3-0.
