Soccer Game Preview: Menlo-Atherton vs. Aragon

The Menlo-Atherton Bears will challenge the Aragon Dons at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Tuesday, Menlo-Atherton sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over Sequoia. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bears.

Meanwhile, Aragon entered their tilt with Hillsdale on Tuesday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They never let the FIGHTING KNIGHTS onto the board and left with a 2-0 victory. Given the Dons' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 58th, while the FIGHTING KNIGHTS are ranked 353rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Sierra Troy and Emi Lo scored both of Aragon's goals, bringing their combined season tally to nine goals.

Menlo-Atherton has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 4-4-1 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 13 goals over those four games. As for Aragon, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-1.

Menlo-Atherton beat Aragon by a goal when the teams last played back in February of 2022, winning 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Menlo-Atherton since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
