Houston County had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Apalachee Wildcats an 11-0 shutout on Wednesday. The Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 18 games by six runs or more this season.

The victory was the ninth in a row for Houston County, bringing their record up to 27-5. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Apalachee, their defeat was their ninth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-20.

Houston County will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Wildcats: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
