Soccer Recap: Ventura Comes Up Short

While it was all tied up 1-1 at halftime, Ventura was not quite San Marcos's equal in the second half on Tuesday. They fell just short of the San Marcos Royals by a score of 2-1. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 617th, while the Royals are ranked 251st).

Ventura's goal came courtesy of Kailey Champion, which was the first she's scored this season.

Ventura's loss dropped their record down to 2-5-3. As for San Marcos, their win bumped their record up to 5-3-1.

Ventura has already played their next matchup, a 4-1 victory against Santa Barbara on the 9th. As for San Marcos, they also wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and have already played their next contest, a 1-1 draw against Dos Pueblos on the 9th.
