Soccer Recap: Rank Disadvantage No Problem for Eastlake

Eastlake's game on Thursday was all tied up 1-1 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the Los Alamitos Griffins. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Titans' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 108th, while the Griffins are ranked 22nd).

Brianna Sanchez and Sophia May scored both of Eastlake's goals, bringing their combined season tally to nine goals.

The win made it two in a row for Eastlake and bumps their season record up to 5-1-3. As for Los Alamitos, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-3-3.

Eastlake will be playing at home against Temecula Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Los Alamitos, they will venture away from home to face off against Patrick Henry at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. Los Alamitos' last five contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
