Football Recap: Valley Christian Comes Up Short

After flying high against Patterson two weeks ago, Valley Christian came back down to earth. The Warriors took a blow against the Junipero Serra Padres on Saturday, falling 41-6. The Warriors have struggled against the Padres recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Even if they lost, Valley Christian's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Cameron Saunders, Federico Cobarubio, and Chase Togiai, who each picked up one sack apiece. Valley Christian got some further help from Saunders: he picked up a sack and made 12 total tackles.

Junipero Serra's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jace Cannon, who picked up 88 receiving yards and one TD.

Valley Christian suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 2-2. As for Junipero Serra, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.
