Basketball Recap: Forest Hill Takes a Loss

Forest Hill was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were outmatched by the Martin County Tigers and fell 80-0. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 588th, while the Tigers are ranked 34th).

Martin County got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Becca Witt out in front who went 8 of 15 on her way to 19 points along with eight steals and seven assists. Those 19 points gave Witt a new career-high. Katelyn Pire was another key player, going 10 for 16 en route to 24 points.

Forest Hill's defeat dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Martin County, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season.

Forest Hill wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 48-19 loss against Dr. Joaquin Garcia on the 22nd. As for Martin County, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 62-37 victory against Dwyer on the 22nd.
