Football Recap: East Newton Drops Highest Score of Season Against Aurora

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Monett, East Newton was happy to have turned things around on Friday. Everything went their way against the Aurora Houn Dawgs as they made off with a 47-21 victory. The Patriots' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Caden Youngblood continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 245 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.1 yards per attempt, and also catching one TD. What's more, he posted five receiving yards, the most he's had since back in November of 2024. Virgil Rosiere was another key pass catcher, picking up 105 receiving yards and one score.

East Newton didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Coy Matheson and Lachlan Letterman. Letterman has been hot for a while, having also posted seven or more total tackles the last ten times he's played. Another thorn in Aurora's side was Kenny Barratt, who picked up two sacks and made four total tackles.

East Newton's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-6. As for Aurora, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.

Looking ahead, East Newton will head out to take on Seneca at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Patriots will need to watch out since the Indians have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. As for Aurora, they will be playing at home against Lamar at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
