Basketball Recap: Somourian Wingo and Dorian Grimes Secure Win for St. Augustine

With a playoff win on the line, St. Augustine rose to the challenge on Wednesday. They strolled past the Englewood Rams with points to spare, taking the game 49-32. The Yellow Jackets haven't had any issues with the Rams recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

St. Augustine was led to victory by Dorian Grimes and Somourian Wingo. Grimes went 7 for 13 to rack up 18 points and seven rebounds, while Wingo posted 15 points and three steals. Wingo's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Braylen Dirden, who scored nine points.

When it comes to explaining why Englewood lost, don't look at Antonio Riddle. Despite the final result, he went 6 of 9 on his way to 15 points. Riddle is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Thomas Mitchell, who put up two points along with five assists and three steals.

St. Augustine's victory bumped their record up to 18-6. As for Englewood, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season.

St. Augustine didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 49-30 defeat against Ponte Vedra on the 7th. Englewood does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
