Recap: Mira Monte Lions vs. Garces Memorial Rams
The Mira Monte Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They suffered a rough 56-33 defeat at the hands of Garces Memorial. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Mira Monte in their matchups with Garces Memorial: they've now lost three in a row.
Garces Memorial found their leader in underclassman Irene Bravo, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaliyah Acosta, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.
Mira Monte has fallen quite a ways from their 19-7 record last season and are now at 1-6. As for Garces Memorial, their win bumped their record up to 4-11.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mira Monte will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Bishop Union at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Garces Memorial won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against East Bakersfield at 11:30 a.m. on December 29, 2023.
