Basketball Recap: Kennedy Gets the Win

Kennedy won the last time they faced Van Nuys and things went their way on Thursday too. The Kennedy Cougars escaped with a win against the Van Nuys Wolves by the margin of a single free throw, 43-42.

Kennedy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Alyssa Garcia out in front who posted nine points and five steals. The dominant performance gave Garcia a new career-high in steals. Another player making a difference was Katherine Franco, who had seven points and seven steals.

Kennedy is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. As for Van Nuys, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-3.

Kennedy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Sylmar at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Kennedy is facing Sylmar at the right time seeing as Sylmar is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Van Nuys, they and Reseda will face off at 5:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played.
