Softball Recap: St. Augustine Sets Scoring Season-High Against Seabreeze

St. Augustine was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 19th straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a 22-19 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Seabreeze Sandcrabs. On the bright side, the 19- run effort marked the Yellow Jackets' highest-scoring contest to date.

Gus Campbell stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she scored three runs while going 3-for-4. Alana Heilman also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

St. Augustine's loss dropped their record down to 0-16. As for Seabreeze, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Augustine will face off against Clay at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Seabreeze, they will challenge Trinity Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Sandcrabs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 13.7 runs per game this season.
