Softball Recap: Four Straight Home Wins for Oak Hill Academy

Oak Hill Academy got themselves on the board against Winston Academy on Tuesday, but Winston Academy never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Patriots with a sharp 10-0 victory. The Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by seven runs or more this season.

Kaelyn Pennington was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mollie Caroline Brand, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That triple was her first of the season. Parker Higginbotham was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

Oak Hill Academy's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Winston Academy, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Oak Hill Academy wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 7-1 defeat against Madison-Ridgeland Academy on the 23rd. Winston Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
