Villa Park entered their tilt with Sonora on Tuesday with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. They walked away with a 50-41 win over the Sonora Raiders. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 38th, while the Raiders are ranked 195th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Villa Park's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sabina Patel, who went 7 for 11 en route to 18 points and six boards. That's the most rebounds Patel has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Bailey Roczey, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards.

Villa Park pushed their record up to 22-4 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.6 points per game. As for Sonora, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-11 record this season.

Villa Park has already played their next game (against La Habra), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Sonora will square off against Cypress at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Sonora is facing Cypress at the right time seeing as Cypress is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
