Basketball Game Preview: Lancaster County Christian Lions vs. New Covenant Christian Flames

The Lancaster County Christian Lions will head out to face off against the New Covenant Christian Flames at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Lancaster County Christian can't be too worried about heading out to take on New Covenant Christian: they just beat Mount Calvary Christian at home, who had been dominant on their own court up to that point. Lancaster County Christian came out on top against Mount Calvary Christian by a score of 37-30 on Thursday. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Lions' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 292nd, while the Chargers are ranked 122nd).

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, New Covenant Christian beat Dayspring Christian Academy 36-32 on Thursday.

New Covenant Christian's win came from a few key players Lancaster County Christian will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Qynne Demler, who posted 21 points along with five boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Miracle Hershey, who scored five points in addition to seven steals and six rebounds.

New Covenant Christian is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.8 points over those games. The win made it two in a row for Lancaster County Christian and bumps their season record up to 16-8.

Lancaster County Christian was able to grind out a solid victory over New Covenant Christian in their previous matchup two weeks ago, winning 40-33. Will Lancaster County Christian repeat their success, or does New Covenant Christian have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
