Basketball Game Preview: Moniteau Warriors vs. Karns City Gremlins

The Moniteau Warriors will head out to face off against the Karns City Gremlins at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Moniteau is headed into the game having just suffered their biggest loss since December 27, 2024 on Friday. They were dealt a 56-28 defeat at the hands of Redbank Valley. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 482nd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 116th).

Moniteau's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Emily Matz, who posted six points along with seven boards and seven steals, and Sophia Fleeger, who scored 13 points and six rebounds. Those seven steals gave Matz a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Karns City came up short against Redbank Valley on Saturday and fell 54-41.

Moniteau's record is now 8-14. As for Karns City, their record is now 19-3.

Moniteau suffered a grim 45-23 defeat to Karns City in their previous matchup back in January. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Moniteau was down 25-5.
