Baseball Recap: New Glarus Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

New Glarus had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Everything went their way against the Markesan Hornets on Saturday as they made off with a 22-8 win.

Ethan Colstad was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. He has become a key player for New Glarus: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three hits, but 6-7-1 otherwise. Nolan Julseth was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: New Glarus kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. They got six more hits than Markesan's also-impressive total of 13.

The victory got New Glarus back to even at 8-8-1. As for Markesan, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-8.

Looking ahead, New Glarus will challenge Pecatonica at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Markesan, they will head out to face off against Pardeeville at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Hornets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 9.3 runs per game this season.
