Football Game Preview: Chincoteague Ponies vs. Rappahannock County

The Chincoteague Ponies will square off against Rappahannock County at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The timing is sure in Chincoteague's favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home while Rappahannock County has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.

Chincoteague is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another highly-ranked state team: Coventry Christian, who was ranked first in their home state at the time (Chincoteague was ranked fifth). The Ponies took their game on Saturday with ease, bagging a 40-12 win over Coventry Christian. The matchup marked the Ponies' most dominant victory of the season.

The match pitted two dominant backs against one another in Camaury Davis and Luke Hunter. Davis had a great game and rushed for 167 yards and two scores while picking up 9.8 yards per carry. Meanwhile, Hunter was balling out in the loss, rushing for 106 yards on only 15 carries, while also picking up 85 receiving yards.

Chincoteague didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Makoa Busquets and George Katsetos. Garrett Daisey was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making 16 total tackles.

Meanwhile, Rappahannock County had to suffer through a 50-7 loss at the hands of Broadwater Academy.

Rappahannock County's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Chincoteague, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Chincoteague strolled past Rappahannock County when the teams last played back in September by a score of 33-14. Will the Ponies repeat their success, or do Rappahannock County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
