Football Game Preview: Smithville Seminoles vs. Byers Lions + Official Tickets

The Smithville Seminoles will venture away from home to face off against the Byers Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Smithville has given up an average of 30.5 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Smithville's offense might be in the hot seat on Friday considering what happened against Tupelo Christian Prep on Thursday. They were beaten by the Eagles 41-0. The Seminoles haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Byers over Ashland in every quarter on their way to victory on Thursday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Lions blew the Blue Devils out of the water with a 39-0 final score. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Byers' win came from a few key players Smithville will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Corey Willis Jr., who threw for 255 yards and four TDs while completing 84.6% of his passes. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (164.3). Kesean Lafrance handled things on the ground, rushing for 110 yards and two rushing touchdowns.

Byers has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 36.0 points over those games. As for Smithville, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7.
