Preview: Chavez Titans vs. Taft Wildcats
The Chavez Titans will head out on the road to take on the Taft Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Chavez is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
Last Tuesday, Chavez humbled the Tigers with a 56-28 victory.
Meanwhile, after only 16 points in their last contest, Taft made sure to put some points up on the board against the Cougars on Tuesday. Taft took down the Cougars 57-43.
Taft's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alaysia Taylor, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Taylor has scored all season. Taira Leota was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 15 rebounds.
Chavez has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a massive bump to their 11-9 record this season. As for Taft, their win bumped their record up to 9-13.
Chavez strolled past the Wildcats in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 47-28. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Taft's Shelby Gregory, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Chavez still be able to contain Gregory? There's only one way to find out.
