Basketball Recap: Morro Bay Comes Up Short

Morro Bay was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They received a blow as they fell 64-50 to the Orcutt Academy Spartans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 55-50 back in January.

Orcutt Academy was led to victory by Iraya Bell-Jackson and Elizabeth Johnson. Bell-Jackson went 6 for 8 to rack up 18 points and seven rebounds, while Johnson dropped a double-double with 19 points and 11 boards. The game was Johnson's 32nd in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Rylie Allen, who went 5 of 9 en route to 11 points and five rebounds.

Morro Bay's defeat dropped their record down to 10-15. As for Orcutt Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season.

As of now, neither Morro Bay nor Orcutt Academy have any future games scheduled.
