Basketball Recap: Lawndale Beats Eagle Rock for Their Seventh Straight Victory

Lawndale extended their winning streak to seven games thanks to a huge performance from Telayia Fuller. The Lawndale Cardinals came out on top against the Eagle Rock Eagles by a score of 50-43 on Friday thanks in part to Fuller, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 boards. Her afternoon made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

Another player making a difference was Kalani Pearson, who posted 18 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals. What's more, she also racked up two blocks, the most she's had since back in January of 2024.

Defeat or not, Eagle Rock got some senior leadership from Marysol Jernigan and Melissa Terrazas. Jernigan went 6 of 15 on her way to 14 points and five rebounds, while Terrazas almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds. Those 11 points set a new season-high mark for Terrazas. Another player making a difference was LeiLani Urquidi, who had seven points and ten rebounds.

Lawndale is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.6 points per game. As for Eagle Rock, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-2.

Lawndale didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 75-60 loss against Christian on the 4th. As for Eagle Rock, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 54-42 defeat against George Washington Prep on the 4th.
