Basketball Game Preview: Rio Hondo Prep Kares vs. Chadwick Dolphins

The Rio Hondo Prep Kares will take on the Chadwick Dolphins at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Rio Hondo Prep will be strutting in after a win while Chadwick will be coming in after a loss.

Last Friday, Rio Hondo Prep took their game with ease, bagging a 64-16 victory over Providence. The Kares have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 24 points or more this season.

It was another big night for TARA RILEY, who went 11 for 15 on her way to 22 points in addition to six boards and six steals. Her afternoon made it 11 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. ALLIE SCOTT was another key player, putting up 11 points and five rebounds.

Rio Hondo Prep was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 55 points the game before, Chadwick was a bit more limited in their matchup on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a 63-4 loss at the hands of Flintridge Prep. The game marked the Dolphins' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Rio Hondo Prep pushed their record up to 8-4 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.2 points per game. As for Chadwick, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-7.

Rio Hondo Prep beat Chadwick 42-31 when the teams last played back in December of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rio Hondo Prep since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
