Soccer Game Preview: Union Mine vs. Argonaut

The Union Mine Diamondbacks will challenge the Argonaut Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Union Mine's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for four straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Union Mine came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Liberty Ranch, falling 7-0. While losing is never fun, Union Mine can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 855th, while Liberty Ranch are ranked 168th).

Meanwhile, El Dorado kept up with Argonaut until halftime on Wednesday, but afterwards: not so much. The Mustangs never let the Cougars get on the board and left with a 3-0 win. The result was nothing new for Argonaut, who have now won five matches by three goals or more so far this season.

They hit El Dorado with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Jimena Lopez, Darci Woods, and Kailey Carney.

The victory was the third in a row for Argonaut, bringing their record up to 12-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored eight goals over those three matchups. As for Union Mine, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7-2.
