Baseball Game Preview: Yelm Tornados vs. Puyallup Vikings

The Yelm Tornados will challenge the Puyallup Vikings at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Wednesday, Yelm sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 win over Bonney Lake. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tornados.

Quillin Hadley looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Parker Myers was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Jonah Smith was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with three RBI.

Meanwhile, Puyallup put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Rogers by a score of 9-4.

Puyallup also got a great performance from Jett Reed as he tossed 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. What's more, Reed posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

On the hitting side, Puyallup saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mason Pike, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one double. Another was Riley Sanoy, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs.

Puyallup pushed their record up to 18-0 with the victory, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Yelm, their victory bumped their record up to 10-7.
