Soccer Game Preview: Ridgeview vs. Bakersfield

The Ridgeview Wolf Pack will venture away from home to square off against the Bakersfield Drillers at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday. Ridgeview's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for ten straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Ridgeview is likely headed into the game with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Stockdale on Tuesday. Ridgeview took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Stockdale. While losing is never fun, the Wolf Pack can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 589th, while the Mustangs are ranked 235th).

Meanwhile, Bakersfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They came up short against Bakersfield Christian, falling 6-0.

Bakersfield's defeat dropped their record down to 5-12-1. As for Ridgeview, their loss dropped their record down to 7-11.

Ridgeview beat Bakersfield by a goal in their previous meeting two weeks ago, winning 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Ridgeview since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
