Basketball Recap: Modoc Falls Despite Big Games from Allie Weber and Jordyn Sandage

If Modoc was feeling good fresh off their 51-19 takedown of Mt. Shasta last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Modoc Braves took a 47-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Trinity Wolves on Friday. The Braves were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wolves earlier this season, when they won 47-35.

Modoc's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jordyn Sandage, who posted 12 points along with five rebounds and three steals, and Allie Weber, who went 5 for 8 to rack up 12 points and three steals. Sandage is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Katie Erquiaga, who earned nine boards, three steals, and three blocks.

Trinity's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kloe Kist, who had 15 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists. Elizabeth Carpenter was another key player, going 5 of 7 en route to 10 points and six boards.

Modoc's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 17-7. As for Trinity, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-5.

Modoc has already played their next match (against Etna), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Trinity, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 57-47 defeat against St. Bernard's on the 1st.
