Basketball Recap: Desert Christian's Loss Ends 15-Game Winning Streak at Home

It was a good run, but Desert Christian unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Saturday. They came up short against the Santa Clarita Christian Cardinals, falling 48-27. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 46-44 back in January.

Desert Christian's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Ava Armstrong, who posted nine points and four steals, and Brielle Magcamit, who had five points in addition to seven boards and three steals. Armstrong has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 16 times she's played. Shyla Shersto-Morales also deserves some recognition as she scored her first point of the season.

Desert Christian's loss ended a 15-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 14-6. As for Santa Clarita Christian, they pushed their record up to 16-7 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road.

Desert Christian will venture away from home to take on Faith Baptist at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Faith Baptist has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. Santa Clarita Christian has already played their next match (against Lancaster Baptist), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
