Softball Recap: Central Now 4-1 over Last Five Games

Central's game on Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They never let the Dublin Fighting Irish get on the board and left with a 14-0 victory. The high-scoring effort was just what the Chargers needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

JaMyree Simmons made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. Simmons was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

In other batting news, Central got a massive performance out of Caylin Mathis, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Mathis a new career-high. Another player making a difference was MacKenzie Anderson, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Central has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Dublin, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-8.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Central beat the Fighting Irish by a score of 12-6 later that day.
