Basketball Game Preview: Rancho Cucamonga Cougars vs. Upland Highlanders/Scots

Rancho Cucamonga and Upland are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2020, but not for long. The Rancho Cucamonga Cougars will take on the Upland Highlanders/Scots at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Rancho Cucamonga will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.

On Saturday, Rancho Cucamonga needed a bit of extra time to put away Oak Hills. They secured a 62-56 W over the Bulldogs. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 31st, while the Bulldogs are ranked 340th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, everything went Upland's way against Chaffey on Friday as Upland made off with a 41-18 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Highlanders/Scots.

Rancho Cucamonga's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-2. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 22.8 points. As for Upland, the victory got them back to even at 9-9.

Rancho Cucamonga took their win against Upland in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 52-31. In that matchup, Rancho Cucamonga amassed a halftime lead of 30-10, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Wednesday.
