Preview: West Lauderdale Knights vs. South Pontotoc Cougars
The West Lauderdale Knights will be playing in front of their home fans against the South Pontotoc Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. West Lauderdale will be looking to keep their nine-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
Last Thursday, West Lauderdale didn't have too much trouble with Newton County at home as they won 24-7.
West Lauderdale's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but K.p Peoples led the charge by rushing for 38 yards and two touchdowns, while also throwing for 28 yards and a touchdown. Caleb Collins and his 112 yards on the ground were also a key factor in West Lauderdale's win.
Another reason for the win was West Lauderdale's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Leading the way was Carson Smith and his three sacks.
Meanwhile, South Pontotoc was able to grind out a solid win over Byhalia on Thursday, taking the game 14-6. The victory was just what South Pontotoc needed coming off of a 53-3 defeat in their prior game.
Their wins bumped West Lauderdale to 9-1 and South Pontotoc to 4-6.
