Basketball Game Preview: Cardinal Newman Cardinals vs. Lincoln Hornets

The Cardinal Newman Cardinals will square off against the Lincoln Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Lincoln will be up against a hot Cardinal Newman squad: the team just extended their winning streak to eight. Cardinal Newman blew past Montgomery 79-37 on Thursday. Given the Cardinals' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 38th, while the Vikings are ranked 177th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Lincoln entered their tilt with Canyon Hills on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They claimed a resounding 74-11 win over the Rattlers. That's two games straight that the Hornets have won by exactly 63 points.

Lincoln's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-5. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.0 points per game. As for Cardinal Newman, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season.
