Volleyball Recap: Service Comes Up Short in High-Profile Match with Eagle River + How To Watch

Service faced Eagle River in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Cougars fell just short of the Wolves by a score of 3-2. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wolves apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Service took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The final score came out to 25-23, 15-25, 21-25, 25-16, 15-4.

Dakota Evans paced Service's offense, picking up 19 kills. Evans got some help from Tahtiani Keliikipi and her 26 assists. Keliikipi was also solid from the service line: she led the team with six aces.

This is the second loss in a row for Service and nudges their season record down to 8-5. As for Eagle River, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-5 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Service is set to take on their familiar foe West Anchorage at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Eagle River will square off against rival Dimond at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
