Baseball Recap: Brantley County Takes a Loss

Brantley County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 15th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Fitzgerald Purple Hurricane. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Purple Hurricane this season, with their most recent loss being a 12-2 defeat on Friday.

Brantley County saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eli Nielson, who scored a run while going 1-for-1. The dominant performance also gave Nielson a new career-high in RBI (two). Gaven Grafford was another, going 1-for-2 with two RBI.

Brantley County's loss dropped their record down to 0-13. As for Fitzgerald, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-6.

Coincidentally, Brantley County and Fitzgerald will both be playing Berrien the next time they take the field. Fitzgerald will head out to face Berrien at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Brantley County will head out to face them at 5:30 p.m. on March 18th.
