Recap: Charleroi Cougars vs. Albert Gallatin Colonials
The Charleroi Cougars lost against the Albert Gallatin Colonials back in January of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Charleroi took a 52-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Albert Gallatin. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Charleroi came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 193rd, while Albert Gallatin is ranked 424th).
Despite the loss, Charleroi still got an impressive performance from Bella Carroto, who scored 23 points. The contest was Carroto's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Ella Sypolt was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
This is the second loss in a row for Charleroi and nudges their season record down to 4-3. As for Albert Gallatin, their win bumped their record up to 2-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Charleroi and Waynesburg Central will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Waynesburg Central's defense has only allowed 28.6 points per game this season, so Charleroi's offense will have their work cut out for Charleroi. As for Albert Gallatin, they will head out on the road to face off against McKeesport at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
