The Willits Wolverines will be playing in front of their home fans against the Upper Lake Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Willits is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.
Last Tuesday, Willits ended up a good deal behind Kelseyville and lost 58-39. Willits has struggled against Kelseyville recently, as their match on Tuesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Willits saw an underclassman step up: Cecily Potter scored 19 points. Potter continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Wright, who scored nine points.
Upper Lake posted their closest win yet this season last Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 54-52 victory over Fort Bragg. The win made it back-to-back wins for Upper Lake.
Willits bumped their record down to 9-12 with that defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 25.6 points per game. As for Upper Lake, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-12.
