Lawrence County put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They took down the Giles County Bobcats 42-28. For the Wildcats, this counts as revenge for the 29-25 victory the Bobcats walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2024.

Logan Clayton had a dynamite game, rushing for 159 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 carries, while also throwing for 219 yards and a pair of TDs on only 19 passes.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Lawrence County was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 225 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 163 rushing yards in eight consecutive contests dating back to last season.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Lawrence County's defense and their five sacks. Taydon Russell was especially locked on to Giles County's QB and sacked him twice. Lawrence County got some further help from Malachi Young: he picked up a sack and made eight total tackles.

Several Bobcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Xavier Hannah, who rushed for 100 yards and one score on only 13 carries. Dallas Buckner was another key player, gaining 61 total yards and two touchdowns.

Lawrence County's record now sits at 3-0. As for Giles County, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Lawrence County wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 21-14 win against Spring Hill on the 12th. As for Giles County, they have also already played their next game, a 26-21 loss against Watertown on the 12th.
