Football Recap: Hillsboro Takes a Loss

If Hillsboro was feeling good fresh off their 54-32 takedown of Ellsworth last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Hillsboro was outmatched by Southeast of Saline and fell 52-16. The defeat continues a trend for Hillsboro in their meetings with Southeast of Saline: they've now lost five in a row.

Grady Gebhardt had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 154 yards and two scores while picking up 8.6 yards per carry, and also picking up 54 receiving yards for Southeast of Saline. Gebhardt has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last three times he's played. Tiernan Ptacek was another key player, throwing for 125 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes.

Hillsboro's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Southeast of Saline, their win bumped their record up to 6-0.

Looking ahead, Hillsboro will take on Lyons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Trojans will be up against the Lions' rather soft defense (which has allowed 42.67 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Southeast of Saline, they will challenge Halstead at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
