El Dorado waltzed into their matchup on Monday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They walked away with a 47-34 win over the Yucaipa Thunderbirds. Given the Golden Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 82nd, while the Thunderbirds are ranked 290th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Yucaipa's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Johanna Thames, who posted 13 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Brianna Elgan, who earned seven points and five assists.

El Dorado has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.1 points per game. As for Yucaipa, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 11-11 record.

El Dorado wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 55-35 victory against Sunny Hills on the 21st. As for Yucaipa, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 75-43 win against Citrus Valley on the 21st.
