Football Recap: Carlsbad Cavemen/Cavegirls vs. Alamogordo Tigers
Carlsbad faced Alamogordo in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Cavemen/Cavegirls managed a 30-25 victory over the Tigers. That's more bragging rights for the Cavemen/Cavegirls, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Carlsbad to victory, but perhaps none more so than ROBERT CASTANEDA, who picked up 205 receiving yards and two TDs. CASTANEDA was no stranger to the big play, lighting up the secondary with a catch that went for 58 yards. Another passer making a difference was MARLEY MUNOZ, who threw for 272 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Despite the loss, Alamogordo still got an impressive performance from Nathanael Best, who rushed for 98 yards and one score, and also threw for 101 yards and a pair of TDs. Best also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making three total tackles and defending one pass in addition to snagging an interception which he returned one-yard for a touchdown. Bryson Bloom helped out on the ground, rushing for 88 yards.

The win was the third in a row for Carlsbad, bringing their record up to 5-3. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 35.3 points over those games.
