Preview: Branham Bruins vs. Christopher Cougars
After ten games on the road, Branham is heading back home. They will take on the Christopher Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Branham suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They fell just short of Evergreen Valley by a score of 60-57. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game on Friday (56), Branham still had to take the loss.
Branham's loss came about despite a quality game from Quinn Godfrey, who scored 44 points. That was a full 77.2% of Branham's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Meanwhile, Christopher put the finishing touches on their 11th blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Ann Sobrato 62-32 on the road. Given Christopher's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 133rd, while Ann Sobrato is ranked 363rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Branham's defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-2. As for Christopher, their win bumped their record up to 16-3.
Everything came up roses for Branham against Christopher in their previous meeting on January 9th as the team secured a 61-34 win. Does Branham have another victory up their sleeve, or will Christopher turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
