Live Oak extends home winning streak to five

Recap: Live Oak Acorns vs. Del Mar Dons

The Live Oak Acorns entered their tilt with the Del Mar Dons with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Live Oak managed a 40-34 win over Del Mar on Thursday. For Live Oak, this counts as revenge for the 47-41 loss Del Mar walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January.

Live Oak got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kathliyah Clement out in front who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. Clement has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Rian Henderson, who scored 14 points along with two blocks.

Del Mar's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Moana Tulua, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds, and Zoey Hinkle who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Hinkle has been hot recently, having posted nine or more rebounds the last seven times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Arseama Kibrom, who scored six points along with six rebounds and four steals.

Even though they lost, Del Mar smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Live Oak only pulled down three offensive rebounds.

Live Oak's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-6. As for Del Mar, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-9.

Live Oak will be playing in front of their home fans against Mt. Pleasant at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Mt. Pleasant will roll in looking for their 11th straight victory, something Live Oak surely won't give up without a fight. Del Mar does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
